# JUSTSTART YOUR GOALS

MY GOAL

Control my anxiety and my trembling voice.

MY SMART GOAL

I want to overcome my fear of public speaking and of giving presentations. I want to have control over my voice , shortness of breath and speech delivery so my voice would not crack up. To do so, I would practice breathing exercises daily, practice debating scenarios and record myself on camera once a week , listen to ted talks and videos which guide how to overcome fear of public speaking, twice every week for 10 mins in total and compare it with my situation. By the end of Amal Fellowship, I aim to overcome my fear of speaking in public and my issue of cracking voice.

MY CURRENT SITUATION IS ON THE LEFT

Public speaking and giving presentations really become my fear in university. I am not a shy person but somehow while speaking out loud my voice starts to crack and I am immediately short of breath and gasping for air. This situation has given me public speaking fear and made giving presentations for me a rather embarrassing experience. It brought me attention which I never really wanted. People started questioning the reasons for my trembling voice which I didn't really like, mainly because it this date, I do not know the reason myself.

Here at Amal, I have been provided with a chance to overcome my fear and to improve my communication which is very precious for me.

MY STRATEGIES TO OVER COME FEAR AND TREMBLING

(week by week)

  1. breathing exercises
  2. scenario based answering while on record
  3. listen to tad talks and watch videos to over my fear and report my progress

WEEK 1 — BREATHING EXERCISE

I have started watching this tutorial video for breathing exercises from this very day and I hope to improve from this onwards. I don’t really have a picture of doing it but to say the least, it was a very different experience. I felt a bit stupid doing it but then I focused on the bigger picture and it changed my perspective.

I really hope to engage myself in upcoming activities in up coming week.
