FIXING STUFF AROUND YOURSELF

Taking charge of little things around yourself provides a different kind of satisfaction and when those little things get sorted, it definitely feels like you have hit the sweet spot.

Little fixing of chemical analysis and instrument labs at my work place not only provided me a sense of responsibility but also highlighted my ability to take charge of my surrounding.

I chose this place deliberately to showcase my newly started practice of sense of reasonability. It wasn’t my job specifically to adjust or clean this place but I still did it anyway, which I believe is the starting point of “Leadership without Authority”

Here are the pictures of condition of the labs when I just got into the office.

instrument lab (before)

There are many things wrong in this picture like; there is a spoon of the slab, all reagents are on almost the edge of the marble slab, HCl reagent bottle is opened and uncovered, small cylinders just rolling on the slab, a handkerchief lying om the countertop.

Catcher light by the wall, extra standard solution next to instrument (the white and green one), dust and particles on the counter top.

The spoon is removed, all chemicals put back on appropriate places and the counter top is cleaned.

The catcher light is removed from the floor, unnecessary items removed, tissue box placed back om its place and of course, the counter top is cleaned.

This little tidiness effort brought me great deal of accomplishment and satisfaction.

I might have picked up all the things in the same manner even if I was not taking any pictures but I wouldn’t have moved the insect catcher light box from the floor.
